CCLE Concludes Workshop for Judges and Heads of First Instance Courts

The Central Committee for Local Elections concluded on Wednesday, October 19, 2022, the activities of the second workshop were organized with the support of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) over two days in Tripoli with the participation of a number of judges and heads of first instance courts under the slogan (the role of the judge in monitoring the electoral process).

The closing day included a ceremonial ceremony during which the Chairman of the Central Committee (Mr. Adel Al-Ashhab) gave a speech that expressed the role of the judicial system in settling electoral disputes, and its importance in achieving the highest standards of integrity, the success of the elections and acceptance of their results, in addition to distributing participation certificates to the attending judges and heads of first instance courts.

On the sidelines of the conclusion of the workshop, which was attended by the chief electoral operations expert, Mr. Imad Youssef, director of the IFES office, and Mr. Riadh Abu Hoshi, the electoral operations officer of the Local Elections Project/ UNDP Libya, extensive discussion sessions were held on the nature of electoral appeals and the procedures followed in this regard.

This workshop, which was held with the participation of the heads of the courts of first instance in the municipalities of (Bani Walid - Al-Zawia - Ejdabia - Gharyan - Al-Zahra - Wadi Al-Hayat) and advisors from the Supreme Judicial Council, comes within a series of sessions and workshops that the Central Committee intends to implement successively with the participation of the Supreme Judicial Council and with the support of the Local Elections Project/UNDP Libya, targeting more than 50 judges and heads of first instance courts at the state level.
