Minister of Local Government meets CCLE Chair

The Minister of Local Government (Mr. Badr El-Din Al-Toumi) was informed, in a meeting held at the Ministry’s headquarters on Wednesday, June 15, 2022, with the Chairman of the Central Committee for Local Elections (Mr. Adel Al-Ashhab) about the readiness of the committee to implement the municipal council elections scheduled to start next July.

The head of the committee (Mr. Adel Al-Ashhab) indicated, during his review of the executive position, that the committee began to prepare effectively for the launch of the electoral process, communicate with its sub-committees in the municipalities and develop technical plans that guarantee the success and integrity of the electoral process, in addition to concluding memoranda of understanding and establishing partnerships with community organizations and relevant government institutions to strengthen Electoral awareness and motivating citizens to participate in the upcoming local elections.

The head of the committee (Mr. Adel Al-Ashhab) also explained in the context of his speech that the committee, during the last period, organized its administrative structure, and identified its technical and logistical needs accompanying the implementation of the upcoming municipal council elections, stressing the importance of the training aspect for polling centers employees, and strengthening awareness activities and programs within the targeted municipalities.

For his part, the Minister of Local Government (Mr. Badr El-Din Al-Toumi) praised the efforts of the Central Committee for Local Elections and its technical units to achieve fair elections that enhance the culture of peaceful transfer of local authority, stressing the government’s support for the implementation of elections in all regions of Libya without exception, according to a schedule and map determined by the Central Committee in accordance with its technical and legal rules.
